Libraries and study room

Libraries

The European School Brussels 1 in Uccle has 4 libraries: one for nursery, one for primary and 2 for secondary: levels 1-3 and 4-7.

In total, there are more than 38,000 resources available to everyone in all the languages taught at the school, i.e. fourteen different languages (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Bulgarian, Danish, Slovenian, Hungarian, Romanian, Maltese, Irish and Dutch).

These resources can be found in an online catalogue.

To ensure the best possible environment for everyone, all library users will be required to comply with the rules in the reader’s guide.

Rules and spirit of the study area

The study area is intended for students who have a lesson cancelled and not replaced due to the absence of a teacher. This space offers optimal conditions for working, meeting, discussing, exchanging ideas and even playing games.
The space is therefore dedicated to conviviality, which allows people to experience situations of well-being and contributes to personal fulfilment.
If we pay close attention to these aspects for our students, it’s because they are an absolute priority for us as educators.
We are fully aware that school work requires conditions of safety and well-being so that it can be built up and carried out properly, and itself become a source of intellectual fulfilment.
Priority is therefore given to school work or research related to educational activities or simply curiosity.
It is possible to play certain games chosen for their educational and/or convivial nature.
