From Carpi to Brussels – Erasmus+ exchange experience with the Italian school
Our school had the pleasure of welcoming 18 students and 3 teachers from Liceo Fanti, a secondary school in Carpi, Italy, for a two-day Erasmus+ mobility exchange on March 17-18.
The Erasmus+exchange was organized by Ms. Smolcec who collaborated with the Italian teachers on several eTwinning projects over the past few years.
On their first day, besides being warmly welcomed by our deputy director, Ms. Makarska, they also gained valuable insights about EEB1 through a creative presentation prepared by our S6 student, Marton Tothi.
During their visit, the Italian students worked with their EEB1 peers on various activities. One interesting workshop involved the S7L3ENA and S7L3ENB classes run by Ms. Rangelova and Ms. Smolcec. The Italian students were split into two groups where they collaborated with our S7 classes on the work of European institutions. This activity encouraged meaningful discussions and fostered a deeper understanding of European governance.
On Tuesday, the Italian students had the opportunity to visit the classes of our S6 students, gaining valuable insights into the European school system. Special thanks go to the S6L2ENG students who were paired with their Italian peers, creating an enriching exchange experience. A highlight of the day was the House of Commons Debate on Artificial Intelligence, which formed part of the second key activity. Both our S6L2ENG students and their Italian guests engaged in a meaningful debate that provided a platform to demonstrate their impressive speaking and debating skills while exploring the impact of AI through thoughtful discussions.
The Italian teachers Chiara Francia, Manuela Serilli, and their school principal Ms. Alda Barbi also participated in a job shadowing experience, attending lessons conducted by our EEB1 teachers, Ms. Nunzia Pendino, Mr. Annibale Reali, and Mr. Francesco Castrogiovanni. This experience facilitated the exchange of teaching methods and best practices, fostering valuable professional growth.
The two-day exchange not only strengthened cross-cultural connections but also provided memorable learning experiences for both students and teachers alike.
