CONDITIONS OF ADMISSION

The Brussels European Schools are primarily intended for the children of the European institutions’ staff.

AGE REQUIREMENT

Pupils are admitted to the nursery school at the beginning of the school year in September of the calendar year in which the child reaches four years of age.

Pupils are admitted to primary year 1 at the beginning of the school year in September of the calendar year in which the child reaches six years of age.

INTEGRATION LEVEL

To determine the level at which your child should be enrolled in the European Schools, please consult the TABLE OF EQUIVALENCES OF TEACHING LEVELS/YEAR GROUPS (Annex 2 of the General Rules of the European Schools, available on www.eursc.eu) before submitting your application.

LANGUAGE SECTION

The European Schools respects the pupils’ right to receive tuition in their dominant language. Pupils are therefore enrolled in the section corresponding to their dominant language.
Determination of the child’s first (i.e. dominant) language is the sole responsibility of the Director, whose
responsibility is to determine the dominant language, based on the information provided by the legal
representatives (see Article 47 e) of the General Rules of the European Schools, available on www.eursc.eu.
